Für Elise is a piece which...

I've known it for so many years...and actually I never performed it until this recording.

because I wanted to play in a way that has a special feeling.

エリーゼのためには、とても前から知ってました…

でも実は、今回のレコーディングまで一度も演奏してません。

なぜなら、とても特別な思いをこめて弾きたかったからです。

 

For me this piece is very romantic and it's very light, it's like a feather.

私にとってこの曲は、とてもロマンチックでとても軽い、羽毛のように。

 

It needs to come from nowhere.

どこからともなく来るように。

 

It shouldn't be just like...you know a very loud ring tone.

皆さんわかりますよね、こんなとてもやかましい音になってはダメですよ。

 

It needs to be more like this...

もっとこんな風にしないと…

 

And there are some passages that need to move people.

それからこの曲には、人々を感動させるパッセージがいくつもあります。

 

I always feel this piece is like...what I heard about it...it's more like background music,

playing without so much emotion.

私は、いつも感じるんですが、この曲は、あまり感情を入れずに弾く、いわばBGMみたいだと。

 

Like...

こんな風に…

 

And this needs to become it comes out of somewhere and comes into somewhere.

そしてどこからか現れてきて、そして、どこかへ行ってしまう。

 

And here it's really positive...

そしてここからは、とってもポジティブ…

 

and here it's mysterious...

そしてここは、ミステリアス…

 

you see the sky, the dark clouds.

空を見ると、暗い雲がのしかかってる。

 

Anyway, this piece needs to be a real artistic work.

ともかく、この曲は、ホンモノの芸術作品なんです。

 

It's not a piece of etudes or you just play whatever there is.

練習曲や、その辺にある曲とかではなく。

 

You have to interpret it as a great masterwork, which it deserves as a great masterwork.

偉大な作品とされるにふさわしい傑作だと解釈されるべきです。

 

I'm trying very hard to bring this piece to a very artistic level.

私は、この曲をとても芸術的に仕上げようと懸命に試みています。

 

And I hope later when the kids start playing this piece...don't think about this piece as...they need to play this piece as a real masterwork, which it is.

そして願わくば、これから先この曲を弾こうとする子どもたちには、この曲をホンモノの作品とわかって弾いてもらいたいのです。
